This book, for the first time, offers a comprehensive and systematic exploration of the social and political role of Bihari Muslims in the making and safeguarding of Pakistan. It highlights their active participation in the Pakistan Movement while living as a minority community in the Indian state of Bihar, where they made remarkable sacrifices for the ideology and creation of Pakistan. From political activism to social mobilization, the book documents how Bihari Muslims contributed to the freedom struggle and remained firmly committed to the vision of Pakistan long before independence was achieved.
The book further examines the post-independence period, detailing the migration of Bihari Muslims to Pakistan and the numerous challenges they encountered, including displacement, economic hardship, and social adjustment. Despite these difficulties, the community emerged as intelligent, hardworking, and deeply patriotic, contributing socially in almost every aspect of life, including education, labor, administration, industry, and community development. Their role in Pakistan’s social fabric, economic activity, and national cohesion is carefully analyzed, with particular emphasis on their loyalty and sacrifices in safeguarding Pakistan’s unity during the crisis of 1971, when they endured immense losses of life, property, and personal honor.
The final part of the book sheds light on the tragic aftermath of 1971, focusing on the displacement of Bihari Muslims, their identity crisis, and the harsh realities of camp life in Bangladesh. This book is based on rare, unpublished, and authentic eyewitness accounts, this work presents a complete reflection of the Bihari Muslim experience—from their early political consciousness and sacrifices for Pakistan to their post-1971 suffering and marginalization. This book is an essential source for students, researchers, and readers interested in South Asian history, regional history, and community studies, offering a nuanced and historically grounded understanding of the Bihari Muslims’ enduring sacrifices, extensive social contributions, and unwavering love for Pakistan.
