The Story of the Amulet

What a shame that Psammead can grant wishes to others but not to himself! Cyril, Anthea, Robert and Jane find him in captivity in a London pet shop and buy him freedom. The sand fairy persuades the children to buy an Egyptian amulet. The talisman can ensure the safe return of their father who is away at war, their sick mother who is also away from home, and their baby brother Lamb who is with their mother. The problem is that it is half of a whole amulet! In order for it to work, they need to discover the other half by time-travelling to far-off places where the magical ornament had been in past. The Story of the Amulet is the last installment in timeless Psammead trilogy. It was first published in 1906 and has been one of the most read children books like Five Children and It and The Phoenix and the Carpet, the other titles in the series.
